Scientists now understand that endometriosis is a whole-body inflammatory condition that can affect a person&#8217;s nervous system and have a significant impact on their quality of life, reducing their ability to work, maintain relationships, and participate in social activities. Women with the condition have also been reported off as <a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/8463987\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">too anxious about their health<\/a> or even as attention-seekers.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-cb163e5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"cb163e5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>\u00a0As there&#8217;s still no cure for it, the disease is treated by managing symptoms. Endometriosis treatment may be hormonal, non-hormonal, or surgical, depending on the patient. Although surgical procedures such as laparoscopy are still recommended \u2013 currently more as a treatment for extreme cases than as a diagnostic tool itself \u2013 scientific advances in women&#8217;s health are transforming the diagnostic landscape. Some of them are:<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6b17f8f elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6b17f8f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Transvaginal Ultrasound (TVUS) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-a6ae8d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"a6ae8d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Non-invasive imaging, such as transvaginal ultrasound (TVUS) and MRI, are now critical to endometriosis diagnosis. These help patients access treatments sooner for persistent pain or infertility, avoiding surgery wait times.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-bc7486e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"bc7486e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Although both types of imaging tests are the most recommended, transvaginal ultrasounds better detect deep infiltrating endometriosis, especially in patients with surgical history and internal scarring. Patients with pelvic muscular disorders or vaginismus might not be candidates for a procedure like TVUS. In this case, a pelvic MRI would be a more effective and comfortable option for endometriosis detection.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-83cf2d6 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"83cf2d6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>Emerging Blood Test for Endometriosis Detection. <\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f425d3e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f425d3e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Beyond imaging, blood-based tests are revolutionising women&#8217;s health diagnostics. A <a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/humrep\/article\/40\/2\/270\/7932209?login=false\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">recent trial<\/a>, in collaboration with the Royal Women&#8217;s Hospital and the University of Melbourne, reported that a blood-based protein biomarker test achieved 99.7% accuracy in distinguishing severe cases of endometriosis from those of patients without the condition, yet presenting with similar symptoms.
