The Board is consulting with doctors and considering three options, with the third one being the preferred choice:<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Maintain the current system with no extra health checks for older practitioners.<\/li>\n<li>Implement comprehensive \u201cfitness to practise\u201d assessments for doctors over 70.<\/li>\n<li>Introduce mandatory health checks with a GP for doctors over 70, enabling early detection and management of health concerns.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d0ef3c0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d0ef3c0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>This proposal comes at a time when many countries face similar challenges of an aging physician workforce and healthcare shortages. Complaints rose by 81%, with 485 complaints made in 2023, up from 189 in 2015. Below are the full M3 Pulse results from September 2024.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-1f120f2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"1f120f2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The majority of physicians and patients agree mandatory health checks for doctors over 70 are important, with patients showing stronger support and fewer expressing disagreement.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d5b27f8 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d5b27f8\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Less than half, 46%, of physicians fully agree doctors over 70 should undergo mandatory health checks to practise, while 61% of patients
