Thalidomide caused severe limb deformities in babies born to women who took the drug during pregnancy. This caution led to broad restrictions, including the exclusion of women using contraception, single women, and those whose partners had vasectomies.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-3199662 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"3199662\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Protests and advocacy emerged in response to women\u2019s exclusion from early drug trials, pushing for women\u2019s right to choose participation. For example, cardiovascular clinical trials have often enrolled predominantly male participants, potentially leading to sex-specific differences in treatment effectiveness. This historical bias has had real-world consequences for women\u2019s health.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-37a22d5 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"37a22d5\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>A study published in Contemporary Clinical Trials between 2016 and 2019 highlighted concerning gender gaps in research related to critical disease areas: cardiovascular disease, psychiatric disorders, and cancer.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S1551714422000441?via%3Dihub\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">*<\/a><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48df739 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"48df739\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The lack of sex-disaggregated data poses a significant challenge in addressing gender disparities. This absence refers to the lack of information that distinguishes between men and women in healthcare datasets and research. In some cases, healthcare data is collected and analysed without considering potential gender disparities. This omission presents a considerable obstacle in understanding and addressing gender disparities in healthcare.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fe5ba6e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fe5ba6e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Without gender-specific data, it becomes challenging to identify patterns and differences in health outcomes between men and women. For instance, if a medical study or healthcare system does not separate data by gender, it may not capture variations in disease prevalence, treatment responses, or health outcomes specific to one gender. This lack of distinction can obscure vital insights into how diseases affect men and women differently.
